A struggling domestic helper in Hong Kong, Joy's (Kathryn Bernardo) dream is to become a nurse in Canada.
However, her dream comes at an expensive price.
Earning enough just for her family, Joy participated in various illegal activities to save money for her dream. Her determination leads her to meet Ethan (Alden Richards), a bartender at the bar Joy illegally works at.
The two awkwardly start an unusual friendship that eventually blossoms into a romantic relationship. A relationship that will be challenged by their own needs, plans, and dreams.
Filipinos love their loveteams. So it was a gamble for director Cathy Garcia-Molina to put two beloved actors, Kathryn Bernardo from KathNiel and Alden Richards from AlDub, together in her movie.
With complex characters, alive setting, and a story that speaks to reality, Garcia-Molina proves to us once again that she's a master storyteller.
It is also notable to say that the film's soundtrack and use of it helped a lot to engage the viewers with the narrative and the character's struggle. The light pace and moving dialogues added color to how the film should be.
Another factor that elevates the quality of the film is the casting. As unusual as it is, Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards show their versatility and deliver with their easy-to-love chemistry.
To sum it up, "Hello, Love, Goodbye" is a beautiful film that tells you to never hold back to achieve your dream. It's a must watch!
