He was a poor boy. She was a rich girl. Can love blossoms between them?
Teen stars Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin leave their marks as the up and coming loveteam to look out for.
“Wild Little Love” follows the story of Sam (Andrea Brillantes), a wild child from a prestigious academy. Despite her popularity and beauty, she is a renown prankster and bully.
One day, her father, Luis (Alfred Vargas), decided to discipline his daughter by sending her to a public school. The deal is simple. She only needs to stay for a year there. And if she shows signs of humility, she can go back to her old life.
However, it won’t be easy. Not for a certified rich girl like her.
Good for her that the poor yet hard working ladies man, Jake (Seth Fedelin), is there to help her adjust to the new world.
It is a classic rich girl meets poor boy affair. And like any great love stories, their love is forbidden as their world cannot meet.
What’s strike me first about this film is the title.
Nothing in “Wild Little Love” is wild. It is not raunchy or chaotic, it’s actually serene and almost fairytale-ish. There’s no enormous reveal that will derail the story nor surprises that will ruin the overall experience. It’s a straightforward, little love story.
The message of the film is also as clear as water: Love knows no boundaries. We are all equal in love, and everyone has the right to love and be happy. Which is a really nice message to convey, especially for the youth.
As for the young actors, Andrea is a clear stand out. Despite having little material to work over, she shows versatility.
On the other hand, Seth fails to truly shine in his moments.
Seth plays his character with this bad boy persona, but that does not really sense in the context of the story. Although this is not the only reason why the young lad did not stand out. The entirety of his character in this film is super flawed and outright toxic. It is hard to like him, at all.
Besides the ‘okay’ acting, the story is not that really mind blowing.
In fact, it is a little predictable. Though, there are some ‘kilig’ moments here and there, but that’s just it. There is not enough substance to lift the core message and make each scene memorable.
“Wild Little Love” is a film for fans. Casual moviegoers might not put this film at the top of their rom-com lists, but it surely proves the potential of the Andrea and Seth movie loveteam.
1.5/5
