The Princess: Movie Review

Joey King in The Princess poster
A princess, a wedding, and a castle — the perfect formula for a sweet fairy tale. But nothing is sweet in this story.

The princess (Joey King) of our story is chained up on her bed, and before she can process what is happening, two soldiers barge into her chambers. It is clear that they want to molest her, but she will not go down easily. With a few clever tricks, she manages to dispatch her foes. As it turns out, this princess is unlike any other. She’s strong and smart, and she will fight.

The whole castle is under the control of her cruel betrothed, Julius (Dominic Cooper). And he has one order for his men: capture the princess so he can force her to marry him. In that way, he will be king. Of course, his plans come with assurance. Julius holds the royal family hostage, and if the princess disagrees, their lives will be the consequence.

But the princess will not surrender quickly. Her trainer, Linh (Veronica Ngô), didn't teach her martial arts just to yield so easily to her adversaries.

The Witch: Movie Review

There's a witch in the family.

When William (Ralph Ineson) and his family got banished from the Puritan Plymouth Colony because of disputes over beliefs, they were forced to settle on a farm near the woods. Little do they know that they'll encounter forces of evil in that place that will tear their family apart.

It all started when baby Samuel abruptly disappeared while playing peekaboo with his sister, Thomasin (Anya Taylor-Joy). They all think that it was a witch that abducted him, but they don't really know for sure. The problems didn't stop there. Winter is coming, and they don't have enough food to survive the harsh weather. William and Katherine's (Kate Dickie) other son, Caleb (Harvey Scrimshaw), also got lost in the wood, and their prized Silver Cup disappeared.

Are these God's punishments for them? Or is there something malevolent in the woods that's haunting them?

The Silence — Movie Review

Amidst the apocalyptic rampage of carnivorous creatures with ultra-sensitive hearing, a family man must protect his family from both the creatures and the cult that wants his daughter.

In "The Silence," the Andrews family tries to leave the city after a group of researchers accidentally releases a swarm of Vesps, which are like carnivorous pterosaurs with very sensitive ears.

The family encountered a number of mishaps on their way to the countryside, resulting in the death of Hugh's best friend and the injury of his wife, Kelly (Miranda Otto).

Hugh (Stanley Tucci) and Ally (Kiernan Shipka) decided to return to the city to get antibiotics for Kelly. That's when a tongueless Reverend (Billy MacLellan) became interested in Ally's fertility and tried to persuade her family to join him.

But when they turned down the offer, the Reverend retaliated by luring the Vesps to their home. Hugh is forced to fight in order to keep his family safe.

Enchanted — Movie Review

Disney spiced up their fairy tale game through this wonderful rom-com drama about a princess lost in New York City.

The film follows Giselle (Amy Adams), a young woman living in the fictional world of Andalasia, who is bound to marry Prince Edward (James Marsden) after sharing a romantic duet about true love's kiss.

Afraid that she would lose her right to the throne, Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon), an evil witch, pushed Giselle into a well to a place where, as they explained, "no happily ever after."

Lost and confused, Giselle accidentally met the cynical divorce attorney, Robert Philips (Patrick Dempsey), who agreed to help her until Prince Edward came to her rescue.

As the two spend some time together, Queen Narissa is becoming more determined to kill Giselle, Prince Edward gets lost in New York, and Robert and Giselle's feelings are becoming deeper.
